Ms Cheryl Slayton

Ms. Cheryl teachers 7th & 8th Grade Language Arts at American Academy in Al-Mizhar. She holds a Bachelor's in English Literature, with a minor in Social Sciences, from the University of North Texas in Denton. Ms. Cheryl holds a teaching certificate for 6-12 English Language Arts in the states of Texas and California. She has previously taught in Dallas, Texas and San Francisco, California. This is her first year at AAM.

 

Ms Heather Albertson

Heather Albertson loves teaching 7th and 8th grade Social Studies. For three years she taught 5th grade Language Arts and Social Studies, making this her fourth year at AAM. To prepare for the honor of teaching the wonderful AAM girls, she attended Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma where she received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She is certified to teach all subjects from Kindergarden to Grade 8, and is also certified in English as a Second Language. Heather taught 6th grade for four years in Richardson, Texas. She has also worked in the corporate world as a Training Specialist. Prior to moving to Dubai, Heather lived in Mumbai, India for three years where she did non-profit work supporting children in crisis.


Ms Mouna Boutemine

Mrs. Mouna is currently teaching seventh and eighth grade math. She has been teaching Math for last 9 years to a diverse group of students in the state of New Jersey, USA. She taught 6th/ 7th grade math, Pre-Algebra and Algebra1. Even though she originally got her Master's in Computer Engineering, she was drawn to teaching because she truly enjoys playing a role in shaping minds of future leaders, scientists, and accomplished citizens of our society. She is certified from the state of New Jersey to teach math from K -12. She enjoys traveling with her family and having the opportunity to see and experience different cultures, food, and getting to know what the world has to offer through personal experience and not through the 55 inch plasma TV. On her spare time, she loves to read, volunteer, travel and taste new chocolate desserts.

 

Ms Monique Shenefield

Ms Monique is the 7th and 8th Grade Science teacher. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Science/Biology and a Bachelor of Education Degree in Secondary Education; both from the University of Manitoba, Canada. Monique has 5 years experience teaching High School Anatomy and Physiology and 3 years at the 3rd grade level in Manitoba, Canada. Upon marrying she moved to the United States where she gained 4 years experience teaching 7th grade science in Lewisville, Texas. This is her first year with AAM.
